The San Francisco 49ers will visit the Houston Texans in the second week of the NFL preseason. This game is headlined by the quarterbacks.

In Week 2 of the preseason, NFL fans will get to see a fairly intriguing matchup — the San Francisco 49ers vs. the Houston Texans.

It is just preseason, after all, but we will hopefully get to see a fair amount of quarterback play from Deshaun Watson and Jimmy Garoppolo. Watson, coming off an ACL tear last season, won’t see a ton of time but should have a nice little cup of coffee against the Niners defense.

TV: KPIX 5 (San Francisco) and KTRK-TV (Houston)

Radio: KSAN 107.7 FM (San Francisco) and Sports Radio 610 AM (Houston)

Time: 8 p.m. ET

Venue: NRG Stadium

Stream: NFL GamePass (subscription required) or FuboTV (free trial)

There are a lot of other exciting pieces on both the Texans and Niners rosters, but they are undoubtedly headlined by the two quarterbacks. Before the injury, Watson was on fire — throwing 1,699 yards and 19 touchdowns through just seven games.

Garoppolo had a six-game sample, throwing for 1,560 yards and seven touchdowns.

Entering a season where these two quarterbacks can hopefully play the full 16 games, preseason games like this are a nice little sneak peak of what fans may get to see.

Houston also has another superstar returning from injury this season — JJ Watt. Watt said he will play Week 1 against the Patriots, and it seems unlikely that he will see any time in this preseason game. The Texans’ defensive line is solid even without Watt, however, will should show in this game.

For San Francisco, something to key in on will be the running backs. With Jerick McKinnon out for the rest of the preseason, Matt Breida, Raheem Mostert, and Joe Williams will have more opportunity to solidify a potential regular season role.
