The UCLA Bruins led by Chip Kelly will travel to Norman to battle new starting quarterback Kyler Murray and the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday afternoon.

Much could be said after an embarrassing loss to Cincinnati last Saturday afternoon. Though it can’t be used as a complete outlier, UCLA was missing three key pieces of their defense due to suspension. Chip Kelly also lost his starting quarterback Wilton Speight during the game. True freshman backup quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson played like a true freshman in relief of Speight with 117 yards.

A lot of hype surrounded UCLA last weekend, as Michigan transfer, Speight was supposed to be the answer at quarterback, with the departure of Josh Rosen to the NFL. Nonetheless, the football gods didn’t favor Speight and the Bruins as he went down with a back injury during the contest. This upcoming weekend UCLA has all their pieces on defense for full display against a very high powered offense. We will see if this team can bounce back at all against the nations No. 6 team this Saturday.

Speaking of that high powered offense, coming off a 63-14 romping of Florida Atlantic, Oklahoma looks to show the same firepower this weekend against a team that doesn’t seem to quite have their ducks in a row. Starting quarterback Kyler Murray (209 yards, two touchdowns) will look to dominate yet again in front of his home crowd.

In only his second start since transferring from Texas A&M, Murray looked poised and confident. If last weekend is any indication of things to come for the Sooners this season they should have no issues facing a defense that gave up 304 total yards last weekend.

It’s safe to say even with UCLA gaining three key starters from suspension, they will have a very tough role keeping up with a much better opponent in the Sooners this Saturday who put up a total of 650 yards. As we know Florida Atlantic isn’t a team to write home about, but 650 yards is still impressive at the college level.
