Inter Milan face Tottenham at San Siro Stadium on Tuesday, Sept. 18. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
The Champions League kicks off with Inter Milan hosting Tottenham at the San Siro on Tuesday. Inter qualified for Champions League after finishing fourth in Serie A last season but have struggled to start this season. Spurs finished third last season in the Premier League to qualify for Champions League for the third consecutive season.
Inter have got off to a disappointing start, picking up only four points in their first four games. Luciano Spalletti decided to rest Mauro Icardi in Inter’s last game, a 1-0 lost to Parma. While Icardi has not scored this season, he found the back of the net 29 times last season. Inter signed Sime Vrsaljko from Atletico Madrid in the summer. A knee injury suffered before the international break kept Vrasljko out of the lineup against Parma. However, the Croatian right-back could potentially play against Tottenham. If Vrsaljko is able to play it will be a huge bonus for Inter.
Vrsaljko was one of three major signings by Inter during the summer. The club signed Radja Nainggolan and Stefan de Vrij from rival Italian clubs but the new additions have yet to gel with their new teammates. De Vrij and Milan Skriniar will form Inter’s center-back pairing, focusing with stopping Harry Kane. While Nainggolan will look to control play in midfield.
Tottenham started the season with three straight wins but have lost their last two games. Over the weekend, Spurs lost 2-1 to Liverpool. Injuries prevented Dele Alli and Hugo Lloris from playing on Saturday and neither player is expected to play against Inter. The loss of Alli will be particularly difficult for Tottenham to replace. Spurs lack another creative attacking option to play beside Christian Eriksen and behind Kane.
While Kane gets most of the headlines for scoring goals for the London club, it has been Lucas Moura who has had a better start to the season. The Brazilian attacker has scored three goals this season, taking advantage of Heung-min Son’s being away with the South Korean national team. With Alli out, Moura and Son will both be expected to step up and find the back of the net.
The Champions League match between Inter Milan and Tottenham will be broadcast live on B/R Live. Live streaming is available on B/R Live, which you can access with your cable or satellite subscription, either online or through their app.
Inter and Tottenham have played four times in European competitions, with both teams winning twice. The two clubs were in the same group for the 2010-11 Champions League campaign and played in the 2012-13 Europa League round of 16, with Tottenham advancing on away goals.
