Domenico Tedesco was viewed as one of the brightest young minds in Germany after he turned around Schalke following a disastrous season two years ago when they finished 10th. However, the slow start has people wondering if the 33-year-old Tedesco is as brilliant as he seemed last season. Schalke have allowed two games in all three Bundesliga games this season and only scored twice. Mark Uth has been disappointing for Schalke since signing from Hoffenheim. Uth scored 14 goals last season with Hoffenheim has struggled to fit in with his new club.

Bayern have had a perfect start to the season, winning all three games and beating Benfica 2-0 on Wednesday. Renato Sanches surprisingly got the start against his former club in Lisbon. To even greater surprise, Sanches scored and was one of the Bayern’s best player. Niko Kovac is said to be high on Sanches who struggled last season on loan at Swansea. If Sanches can rediscover his form that he showed at Euro 2016, Bayern will get younger and better than they already are.

Kovac will likely shuffle his squad to rest some players after playing Wednesday. Niklas Sule, Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller and Leon Goretzka will likely start after starting on the bench against Benfica. Saturday’s game will be Goretzka’s first return to Gelsenkirchen after he left for Bayern on a free transfer in the summer. Goretzka spent five years with Schalke after they signed him from Bochum as an 18-year-old.
