Welcome to the NHL DFS Man Advantage for Wednesday October 10th. Tonight is a small 3 game slate .Â
Of the 6 teams playing on tonight’s NHL DFS slate on the Flyers are on a second night of a back to back as they head to Ottawa to take on the Senators. We also get a Stanley Cup rematch as the Golden Knights head to D.C. to take on the Ove and the Caps. The last game on the slate has the Coyotes heading to the Duck Pond to take on John Gibson and the undefeated Ducks.
Philadelphia Flyers @ Ottawa SenatorsÂ
Our first game on the night is Flyers traveling north to Canada’s capital to take on the Senators. As strange as it is to say, I like the Senators tonight. I don’t know if I am ready to use Craig Anderson in net yet in DFS, but he is an option for a night like this. In the opposing net for the Flyers on Wednesday it is expected that Calvin Pickard makes his Flyers debut. Pickard is a talented goaltender, he has a career .913 save percentage and a 2.78 GAA 87 NHL games. Personally, I am staying away from both goalies in this game, but if you want to play one, I’d go with the experience of Anderson.
Looking at the lineups, I think I might try to stack this game on Wednesday. Ottawa has been a pleasant surprise, for fans not dfs players, they have been in every game and scored a bunch of goals ( 11 goals in 3 game thus far). Starting with the Senators point men I am definitely first looking at Thomas Chabot. In three games Chabot has 5 points (2 g 3 a ) and 8 shots on goal. Looking at the forwards for Ottawa, their first line is the best place to start, as with most teams. The line of Ryan Dzingel, Zach Smith, and Mark Stone have combined for 10 points ( 4 g 6 a). Also you can look at Matt Duchene who has 2 assists in three games and play on the first PP unit and Chris Tierney who has 1 goal and 2 assists in his 3 games and also plays pp minutes for the Sens.
For Philadelphia there is much more scoring depth than Ottawa has and they will want to get back at it and try to show they are better than the team that was dismantled by San Jose Tuesday. Looking first at the Flyers defense you have to consider both members of the teams first d pair. Shayne Gostisbehere is off to a slow start this season scoring his first goal of the season Tuesday against the Sharks. Ivan Provorov enters tonight’s with no points but he is too talented to not start scoring soon. Up front the Flyers are of course leaning on their first line of Jacob Voracek, Sean Courturier and Claude Giroux have combined 8 points so far, but only one goal ( Courturier). As for their secondary scoring, the Flyers are getting that from Wayne Simmonds who has 3 goals and an assist in 3 games this season. An inexpensive player to pair with Simmonds on a mini stack is Mikhail Vorobyev who has a goal and an assist in three games .

NHL DFS Man Advantage 10/10
Vegas Golden Knights @ Washington Capitals
On paper this looks like the best goaltending match on the slate, but I am not sure if it will be. We know Marc-Andre Fleury will be in net for the Golden Knights and it is expected that Braden Holtby starts for the Caps. Both are talented Stanley Cup winning goalies but if I am going to start one from this game it’s Holtby. Vegas has not had a good start to the season and I don’t think they get right against the reining champs.

When it comes to the Golden Knights defense there really isn’t much to be that interested in. All 6 defensemen on the Knights have combined for 2 assists in three games. If I was going to use on it would be Shea Theodore as he is the most talented of the group. On the opposite there are a few defensemen from Washington that are in play. John Carlson has 2 goals and 2 assists in 2 games for Washington. Carlson also captains the first pp unit for Washington and is averaging over 26 minutes a game on the ice.
Vegas’ top line is your best option if you’re using them in DFS on Wednesday night. Vegas has 6 goals this season and Jonathan Marchessault has 2 of them, line mate William Karlsson has 2 assists this season and 4 shots on goal, and Reilly Smith has been held pointless in 3 games but does have 7 shots on goal so it’s only a matter of time until he gets going it would seem. Max Pacioretty is the best one-off option besides the first line with his 1 goal and 9 shots in 3 games. TJ Oshie has been on fire to start the season scoring 2 goals as well as 3 assists with 7 shots on goal in the Caps first 2 games. Niklas Backstrom who centers Oshie and Jacob Vrana (1 goal) also has 4 assists and 4 shots. Of course, you can use the Capitals first line of Alexander Ovechkin, Evegeny Kuznetsov, and Brett Connolly. These 3 have combined for 7 points with Ovechkin and Kuznetsov with 2 goals and 1 assist each.
Arizona Coyotes @ Anaheim Ducks
In the last game of the night is where I find the best goalie on this short slate. John Gibson is expected to get the nod in goal for the Ducks on Wednesday. In his first three starts Gibson is 3-0 with a 1.30 gaa and a .958 save percentage. Since Gibson has started all three games this season there is a chance that Ryan Miller does get the start. If Miller starts I am still on him because I just feel that this is a win for the Ducks and whoever is in net will get that win. For the Yotes it should be Antti Raanta in net. He has performed well, it’s just unfortunate that nobody else on Arizona has started playing yet. Raanta has a a 2.02 gaa with a .911 save percentage.
Anaheim is down two of their best, and oldest, players in Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry but the new make shift first line has been performing well. Maxime Comtois, Adam Henrique, and Jakob Silfverberg have combined to score 4 goals and 7 assists in their first 3 games. This is a great line stack because they are one of the cheapest 1st lines on the slate. Rickard Rakell is probably the best forward on the Ducks and is a good one-off play Wednesday or a mini stack with Henrique or Silfverberg since they are on the first pp unit. On Defense Cam Fowler, Hampus Lindholm, and Brandon Montour are in play. For Arizona, its hard to decipher who is the best options since they have yet to score a goal this season. They will eventually score, but looking at their roster there isn’t much there I am interested in. Besides Oliver Ekman-Larsson on defense and Derek Stepan and Vince Hinostroza.Â
