After three games, Inter Milan and Barcelona are in control of their Champions League group. Barcelona are three points ahead of Inter, after beating the Italian side 2-0 in their last game. The two teams will play the reverse fixture at the San Siro on Tuesday in Milan.
Inter Milan have won seven straight Serie A games to move into second place, six points behind Juventus. After not scoring in the first four games of the season, Icardi has scored eight goals in his last eight goals between Serie A and Champions League. However, Icardi was unable to score against Barcelona when the two teams played in Spain. Inter will need Icardi to score if they are going to beat Barcelona on Tuesday. Luciano Spalletti did not play Icardi in Inter’s 5-0 win against Genoa. The extra rest should only benefit the Argentina international.
Even with Lionel Messi sidelined with a broken arm, Barcelona have continued winning. Barcelona won their third straight game, beating Rayo Vallecano 3-2 behind a Luis Suarez brace. Suarez has picked up the slack for Barcelona since Messi was injured. Over the last three games, Suarez has scored six goals. In addition to Messi being injured, Samuel Umtiti will miss another game with a knee injury. With Umtiti out, Barcelona will turn to a center-back pairing of Clement Lenglet and Gerard Pique to stop Icardi again.
