Watch the second to last race of the 2018 NASCAR season as three spots in the Championship 4 are on the line at ISM Raceway in Phoenix.
Seven drivers, three spots. NASCAR isn’t exaggerating when it says that is what’s at stake in the Can-Am 500 at Phoenix’s gorgeously remodeled ISM Raceway. Four drivers will compete for the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series championship next weekend at Homestead, but so far, only Joey Logano is guaranteed to be among them.
Kevin Harvick thought he was the second to secure a berth, but that was before his Texas win was erased in every way that counts. He’ll now start from the pole at Phoenix looking for a victory that doesn’t see his car run afoul if the post-race inspection process, but he’ll have to be careful because the point penalty he suffered has left him vulnerable.
A bad day for the 4 could put Kurt Busch or Chase Elliott in. The other two members of the Big 3, Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr., are likely safe barring an early race catastrophe, but you have to imagine they’d like some momentum to carry with them to Miami.
If you’ve followed the 2018 NASCAR Playoffs to this point, you probably don’t need any extra encouragement to watch, but here’s the info you might need to do so:
