Chelsea will attempt to remain unbeaten in the Premier League when they welcome Everton to London on Sunday. The Blues have gotten off to an incredible start under first year manager Maurizio Sarri, and currently sit in second place in the league, two points below leaders Manchester City. Chelsea’s strong start will help them on their way to accomplishing their goal of returning to the Champions League. They finished fifth a season ago, qualifying for the Europa League.
As usual, star winger Eden Hazard is the player to watch for Chelsea. Hazard leads the team in goals, and is tied for the team lead in assists with Olivier Giroud. Hazard’s future with Chelsea seemed to be up in the air prior to the start of the season, but he seems committed to continuing his great career at the club, at least for the moment. Hazard, and others like Ross Barkley and Alvaro Morata, have flourished under Sarri’s attack-minded philosophy. Look for them to attempt to score – and score often.
The visitors find themselves in ninth place, but in good form. Everton have won four of their last five games, losing only to Manchester United two weeks ago. Summer signing Richarlison has been the most prolific player for Everton, leading the team with six goals at this point in the season. The young winger, who came to Everton from Watford, has shown a flair for the dramatic, scoring spectacular goals exactly when the team seems to need them most.
