Could Oilers owner Daryl Katz’s creepy #MeToo moment now be a pop song?

Edmonton’s Katz thought he had gotten past his #MeToo moment, but it seems to have inspired a Latin pop song.

Greice Santo was allegedly offered a million for sex by Edmonton Oilers owner Daryl Katz. After declining the offer, she may be on her way to earning a lot more.

You may not be totally familiar with Brazilian actress and model, who has appeared in a recurring role on Jane The Virgin as recently as last year, but her music career might be about to grab some attention. Santo released her first music video last week, a song called Você Você, which takes an encounter with sexual harassment and attempts to turn it into a moment of empowerment.

Katz was outed by Santo over a year ago for offering money for sex. The offer, according to Santo, came during a business meeting in which she said she assumed incorrectly that Katz wasn’t going to do anything skeezy.

“This is so common, but most girls and women — they are afraid of coming out,” Santo told Variety last year. “I feel like me coming out will give courage and inspire so many girls who go through the same thing I go through.”

Now, Santo appears to be turning what happened to her into a message she hopes millions of people around the world hear. Você Você , which translates to You You (as in you know what you did), is a call on women to speak up about their experiences with sexual harassment. Santo was not available for comment.

In addition to the strong message, there’s some serious star power behind Santo’s potential hit. It’s produced by Humberto Gatica, who has worked with Madonna, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, and Selena Gomez. Gatica is a 16-time Grammy winner.

Some fans have compared Santo to Shakira early on. The Colombian pop star broke into the American mainstream back in that late 90s and has been a dance staple since. All you need is one massive hit to make it big, and there’s a lot more than a spot at the top of the charts riding on this one.
