Last year, the Gamecocks had no answer for Kelly Bryant and the passing attack as he went for 272 yards on 23/34 passing.  The Tigers were able to control the pace and tempo of the game because the defense played outstanding holding the Gamecocks to 209 yards of total offense. Also forcing quarterback Jake Bentley to throw two interceptions and getting constant pressure on him by the front four.

This year both teams are different from they were last year, Clemson doesn’t have Kelly Bryant but they have Trevor Lawrence, a true freshman who is able to open up the passing game and give them options on offense. They have Travis Etienne who last year against South Carolina didn’t play much only carrying the ball nine times for one touchdown and 41 yards, but now he is one of the best backs in college football and he should look to make an impact early in the game.

The Gamecocks were sitting second in the SEC East going into this game last year, but this year they are close to being last but they sit fourth currently. The defense was doing great against teams competing for every game now they are just giving up a lot of points, putting their questionable offense in weird positions to score.
