Benfica face AEK Athens at Estadio da Luz on Wednesday, Dec. 12. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

The Champions League group stage concludes on Wednesday with Benfica hosting AEK Athens at Estadio da Luz. The first game between Benfica and AEK was one of the best games of the group stage. Benfica scored two goals in the first 15 minutes but were down to 10 men at halftime Ruben Dias picked up his second yellow card. AEK came back scoring two goals early in the second half but Benfica scored a late winner that proved to be very significant. That goal helped Benfica qualify for the Europa League knockout stage as the third-place team. AEK have lost all five of their group stage games but will look to change that on Wednesday.

Benfica are fourth in Portugal but only four points behind first-place Porto despite winning three straight games. Rui Vitoria might decide to rest some of his regular players with the group already decided. Pizzi will be a player to watch for Benfica. This season, Pizzi has six goals and seven assists.

AEK are a distant fourth in the Greek Super League, sitting 12 points back of PAOK. In the Champions League, AEK have allowed at least two goals in every game and have only scored two goals, both in the previous game against Benfica. Viktor Klonaridis scored both goals in the first game against Benfica. Klonaridis is second on AEK with six goals in all competitions, one behind of Ezequiel Ponce.

This is the second straight season that Benfica have been eliminated in the group stage. The last two seasons that Benfica have played in the Europa League they have reached the final, losing to Chelsea in 2013 and losing to Sevilla in 2014.
