UFC Brooklyn: Glover Teixeira submits Karl Roberson in first-round

“I’m 39-years-old,” Teixeira said during his post-fight interview. “But I still got it.”
Here is how the fight played out
Round 1
Teixeira stands in the orthodox stance while Roberson stands southpaw. Roberson starts the action with a push kick. Teixeira shoots in on a takedown and tried to pull out Roberson’s legs. Suddenly Roberson hits Texeira with a series of downward elbows that drops Teixeira. He is hurt! Roberson goes in for the kill. He briefly has the mount and reigns down some shots. Teixeira scrambles and somehow gets to his feet. He has a body lock and trips Roberson down. He moves to mount and locks in a head/arm choke. Roberson fights out of the submission but Teixeira locks it in again. Roberson tries to fight the submission once again but is forced to tap it, given Teixeira the victory.
The fight was the 16th UFC fight for Teixeira. He improved his record to 11-5 in the Octagon.
Teixeira was originally set to face Ion Cutelaba for the event, but Cutelaba was forced off the card due to an injury.
Roberson took this fight on just over a week’s notice and moved up to light heavyweight from middleweight for this fight. The loss dropped his UFC record to 2-2. The DWTNCS was coming off a win over Jack Marshman, but the former kickboxer wasn’t experienced enough on the ground to hang with the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, Teixeira.
