With the NFL Draft starting on Thursday night, there are a handful of teams that should be pangs of anxiety heading into the proceedings.

Chicago Bears

Bears fans should be scared going into this year’s NFL Draft. The team is coming off a solid season and it came one Cody Parkey Double Doink short of advancing to the Divisional round in the playoffs last season. On paper, the Bears are a solid team with one of the most terrifying defenses in the NFL. The defense is full of young talent but they paid a price to get there. Khalil Mack is the cornerstone of their defense for years to come but they gave up first-round picks in 2019 and 2020 to acquire him.

On top of that, they gave up their second round pick this year to acquire Anthony Miller in last year’s draft. Now the Bears head into draft night with only five picks to their name and barring any trades, they do not see their first selection until the 23rd pick in the third round. On top of that, the Bears have some tough decisions to make with their cap space with quarterback, Mitchell Trubisky and safety, Eddie Jackson, both are set to be free agents following the 2020 season.

The Bears have some tough decisions ahead of them on how to manage their cap space as key players near free agency. While the Bears may truly sit back and watch highlights of Khalil Mack as the first round unfolds, hopefully, they are putting some thought into the future and how to secure some young talent before the rest of the talent they have is gone.
