It’s been a few weeks since the last new Saturday Night Live episode in season 44. Is it new tonight?

Though it felt like just yesterday that BTS fever took over 30 Rock, it seems like production at Saturday Night Live is still recovering. There are only three episodes left this season, but none may be as more anticipated as Adam Sandler, returning to the show as a host for the first time in roughly a quarter-century in years.

Adam Sandler is one of the most iconic actors who has made something big of their success after appearing on SNL, but many have made something of a comedy career after even brief stints on the show. Tim Robinson is one such person who was on NBC’s weekend sketch show as a featured player for a season, followed by a writer for a season, and has gone off to do his own thing within that comedy space.

I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson debuted earlier this week, and it’s a wild, wacky, cruder version of the kind of comedy that SNL revels in. The freedom of being able to swear allows the characters to dive deeper into the absurdity of the situation, and there is a variety of alum who appear in the show. Highlights include Will Forte, Andy Samberg, Vanessa Bayer, Cecily Strong, and many others.

It’s a good substitute for Saturday Night Live, as the show is not new tonight. There’s an excellent reason why NBC isn’t bothering to go live tonight. Everyone and their second-cousin, thrice removed will be watching Avengers: Endgame this weekend. Even the show used Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye to illustrate the craziness that is the MCU’s fandom sketches, and the end of Phase 3 will even see some theaters run 24/7.

Thankfully, Adam Sandler will host SNL next weekend on May 4, leading the final three-straight episodes to close out season 44. We can’t wait to see who will join him with cameos throughout the night!
