The Nightmare faces The Natural when Cody takes on Dustin Rhodes in this brother vs. brother match.

It wasn’t too long ago that Cody and Dustin Rhodes were winning tag team gold together in the WWE. Shortly after dropping those Cody, then known as Stardust, turned on Dustin, then known as Goldust, and the two brothers battled with Goldust picking up the win. Angered, Stardust attacked Goldust after the match in the locker room leaving the feud open-ended when Cody wound up leaving the WWE.

But that was a different time, in a different promotion, with two completely different gimmicks. Now the long-awaited brother vs. brother rematch with the Rhodes boys is happening at Double or Nothing in Las Vegas on May 25 as the featured bout.

With most of the card officially set, AEW teased who Cody’s opponent would be for weeks. In the meantime, Dustin’s contract with the WWE expired and he did not resign with the company. Instead, Dustin took to social media declaring his time in the ring was over. He posted a video showing himself pack away his Goldust gear while the solemn notes of Game of Thrones played in the background. But his career wouldn’t be over quite yet.

More from AEW

On the heels of Dustin’s announcement, AEW had an announcement of their own: Dustin would be Cody’s opponent at Double or Nothing. Since then they’ve been doing a solid hype job to get the match over. The two of them have cut promos back and forth on each other declaring why this match must happen. Each man has a gripe in his own right that needs to be settled in the ring before he can move on with his career, or in Dustin’s case the rest of his life.

It’s a high-profile match and one that’s already drawing a great deal of interest for AEW’s first big event. With the real-life blood bond between the two they’re destined to put on one helluva show. If this is to be Dustin’s final match of his career you can bet he’s going to leave it all out in the ring. For Cody, everything is riding on the success of Double or Nothing so he’s going to bring his best as well.
