Nick and Tori Foles share news of recent miscarriage

Nick Foles has been absent from Jaguars OTAs while dealing with a personal issue. On Wednesday, he and his wife, Tori, shared the unfortunate news that they have experienced a miscarriage.

On Tuesday, Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone told the media that quarterback Nick Foles would be missing from the team’s OTAs, with no timetable for his return. Marrone did not disclose what the issue was but it was clearly a personal one, with Marrone extending prayers to the Foles family.

On Wednesday, Foles’ wife Tori posted on Instagram, detailing what has been going on for their family over the past week. Foles also tweeted the post.

In her Instagram post, Tori detailed how she had been struggling with illness for a couple days, with what seemed to be a virus. However, she was about 15 weeks pregnant and went into labor. Unfortunately, the premature labor could not be stopped, and it resulted in a miscarriage.

Her post reads, in part:

"Our weekend together was not quite as planned, but blessed by their presence and the help they provided us with an unexpected set of circumstances that nick and I suddenly found ourselves in.As several of you knew, we were about 15 weeks pregnant with our 2nd baby. Early Sunday morning after a rough couple days fighting a “virus” of some sort, I went into sudden labor and knew something was wrong. Not long after we learned we had miscarried our baby boy. To fully labor and deliver and even see our baby boy was a pretty devastating process. Come to find that I had contracted an infection of pneumonia in the blood. The emotions go back and forth from immense and overwhelming sadness, confusion and anger to a firm belief that God has this fully in his hands and will use this for good. We cannot always understand or explain, but we know that is true."

Tori is now home recovering. We will be hoping and praying for a full recovery for the Foles family, both physically and emotionally.
