Legend Fighting Championship returns to Macau for the first time since 2012 where it will host several events this year.

One of Asia’s most important MMA promotions, Legend Fighting Championship, has announced that it will be returning to Macau’s MGM Theatre for several newly announced events in 2019. The promotion’s first event at the new partnership location will take place on Sept. 14.

“Macau has major significance for Legend. It was the first international market for us outside of Hong Kong, so we are very pleased to be returning for this historic event,” Matthew Kwok, Legend Fighting Championship Chairman, said via an official press release.

This comes on the heels of the promotion announcing Audie Attar, sports manager and President of Paradigm Sports Management, as a founding board member who will “play a pivotal role in the business.”

“We are proud to partner with the historic MGM brand. It’s a name synonymous with some of the greatest combat sports events in history. Legend has always been known for its electric fight nights and we look forward to writing a new, exciting page in Chinese MMA history inside the magnificent MGM Theater,” Attar said via the same press release.

This is the first return to Macau for the promotion since 2012. That fight card saw Japanese veteran Koji Ando defeat Australia’s Rob Hill in the main event of Legend 9.

Legend Fighting Championship boasts fighters UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker, Li Jingling and Wang Guan among some of their most recognized alumni.

The promotion took a short hiatus and relaunched just last year with Legend 12 on Sept. 15, 2018,  in Guangzhou, China.

There is no word on the exact events they will host this year.
