Yankees hot bats break home run record with 28 straight games
On Tuesday, the New York Yankees entered the game against the Toronto Blue Jays being just shy from the record of 28 straight games with a long ball.
The New York Yankees have a lineup that’s built of serious home run power up and down the lineup. And their home run hitting ability has been superior over the month of June.
Entering Tuesday’s game, being just one home run shy from the record could be a distracting task, but it certainly didn’t take long for the heavy-hitting Yankees lineup to send one into the seats.
Leadoff batter DJ LeMahieu wasted no time, sending the sixth pitch of the game into the left field seats for the Yankees’ milestone home run streak to reach 28 straight games.
The Yankees broke a previous benchmark that was held by the 2002 Texas Rangers, who homered in 27 straight games, primarily from the bats of sluggers Alex Rodriquez and Rafael Palmeiro.
The Yankees weren’t done hitting home runs after LeMahieu’s historic blast, as Aaron Judge, Gleyber Torres and Edwin Encarnacion all sent long balls over the fence to get in on the action.
The Yankees are just one week removed from getting Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge back from the Injured List. This is the healthiest their lineup has been in quite some time even with Stanton landing back on the IL on Wednesday, and it clearly shows in the standings, with a 51-28 record. They’re currently riding a hot streak, winning 10 of their last 11 games, which has resulted in the team sitting at a season-high 23 games above .500.
The Yankees currently find themselves fourth in home runs with 132 on the season. They’re getting an abundance of contribution from multiple guys in the lineup, but having Encarnacion and Gary Sanchez, who rank first and second in home runs in the American League, provide major support towards the team’s power numbers.

The Yankees currently sit as the leader of the American League East with a six game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays. With their extreme power surge, it doesn’t look like the Yankees are going away any time soon, as they’ll likely be a contender down the stretch with their loaded lineup.
