The USWNT look to repeat as world champions when they take on the Netherlands on Sunday, July 7 at the Stade de Lyon in Lyon, France. Here’s what to know before you watch.

The emotional United States juggernaut rolls right into Sunday’s championship game against the Netherlands/Sweden in Lyon with the Women’s World Cup on the line. The confident Americans are looking to win a fourth title, and back-to-back championships, in what has been a record-smashing run.

The USWNT come into the final with a swagger that comes with winning all six games they have played at this tournament, defeating Spain in the Round of 16, hosts France in the quarterfinals and England in the semifinals all by 2-1 margins.

The team has played with heart and won over fans across the world with their talent, depth and determination. Alex Morgan, who has a tournament-leading six goals and three assists, will look to win her second World Cup and first Golden Boot award as top scorer.

Megan Rapinoe, coming off an injured hamstring, is expected to be back in the starting lineup after sitting out the semifinal, while goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher has been clutch as of late. The Americans, who enter the match on an extra day’s rest, like to score early (they’ve tallied a goal in the opening 12 minutes of every game at this World Cup) and have had the resiliency to win games even when teams draw level.

As for the U.S.’s opponents, the Dutch will be looking to win their first World Cup and enter the match as underdogs after defeating Sweden 1-0 in the semifinals after overtime. The defending European champions are set-piece masters and dangerous from long range. Striker Vivianne Miedema is the player to watch, although they have gotten to their first World Cup final ever as part of a total team effort.

The Women’s World Cup final between the United States and the Netherlands will be broadcast live on Fox. Live streaming is available on Fox Sports Go, which you can access with your cable or satellite subscriptions, either online or through the app.

Both nations have also featured the largest number of fans from outside France. That should make for a loud setting. Nonetheless, it doesn’t look as if the Americans will easily roll over at the final hurdle. Anything is possible, but given the talent at Jill Ellis’ disposal, another 2-1 USWNT win would not be out of the question.
