FanSided will be tracking WWE SummerSlam results all night long as they come in from Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

Welcome to FanSided’s live coverage of the 2019 edition of WWE SummerSlam.

Coming from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, formerly known as the Air Canada Centre, SummerSlam is full of marquee matches, including a WrestleMania rematch for the WWE Universal Championship as Brock Lesnar takes on Seth Rollins. The WWE Championship is also up for grabs as a decade-long rivalry between Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton has gone to an entirely new level. In what could be the match of the night, AJ Styles and Ricochet will once again go at it for the United States Championship.

On the women’s side of things, Natalya returns to her home country to challenge Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship and Ember Moon takes her first real shot at gold when she goes one-on-one with SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley.

In one of many grudge matches on the card, Kevin Owens’ career is in jeopardy as he battles Shane McMahon and Bray Wyatt finally returns to the ring, this time as “The Fiend,” and will mix it up with Finn Balor.

Two WWE Hall of Famers will also make their returns at SummerSlam. Coming off a disastrous match with The Undertaker in Saudi Arabia, Goldberg is looking for redemption against Dolph Ziggler and in front of her hometown crowd, seven-time Women’s Champion Trish Stratus will take on Charlotte Flair in a dream matchup between two of the best of their respective generations.

As they’ve been doing quite a bit recently, WWE has been adding matches to these pay-per-views very late and SummerSlam is no exception. Just about 90 minutes prior to the start of tonight’s action, it was announced that Buddy Murphy vs. Apollo Crews has been added to the Kickoff Show, as has a match for the Women’s Tag Team Championship with new champs Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross taking on The IIconics. And shock of all shocks, the WWE Cruiserweight Championship bout between Drew Gulak and Oney Lorcan has also found its way to the preshow, which is a shame as usual.

So we’ll begin our night with the Kickoff Show and then move on to the main card once it gets rolling at 7:00 p.m. Eastern/4:00 p.m. Pacific. Be sure to bookmark this page or just keep checking back in with FanSided all night long as we bring you live results and highlights from the 2019 edition of SummerSlam.

Let’s roll.

WWE SummerSlam 2019 Kickoff Show results

Hmm … this could be an interesting development. It’s about time they got all these guys on the air together.

Geez, they couldn’t even give the cruiserweights the final match of the Kickoff Show. And is there really a need for a commercial about SummerSlam while SummerSlam is actually happening?

Drew Gulak def. Oney Lorcan via pinfall to retain WWE Cruiserweight Championship

Okay, so that wasn’t the greatest match we’ve seen from the division lately but it’s difficult when you only get about seven minutes, there’s a commercial break and the arena is about half full.

Look, everyone! Buddy Murphy has a wrestling match on television. Oh wait, it’s just to further the Roman Reigns/Rowan/Daniel Bryan storyline. Did we even get an official result on that match? I guess Apollo Crews would’ve been disqualified if Rowan attacked Buddy, right? We’ll go with that.

Wow, that was an interesting pop-in for the Kickoff Show. Apparently, Edge is not ready to walk with Elias. That was fun.

Women’s tag titles are up next and The IIconics have microphones, which means my mute button is getting a serious workout. But Alexa Bliss is dressed like Buzz Lightyear and that’s pretty amazing. Not much of a match though.

Let’s get going with the highlights and results from the main card.

WWE SummerSlam 2019 main card results

WWE made a beautiful choice for the opener. Nattie got that huge Canadian pop but there are certainly plenty of Becky Lynch supporters in Toronto as well.

Becky Lynch def. Natalya by submission to retain Raw Women’s Championship

A Sharpshooter up on the ropes? Nice.

That was a lot of fun to open the SummerSlam main card. Becky and Nattie told a great story in the ring and put on a very solid match. A good start to the night.

Well, at least I’m not seeing any blood on Goldberg’s forehead this time so he must not have tried to knock himself out tonight.

Goldberg def. Dolph Ziggler via pinfall

At least DZ got a little offense in, right? I was waiting to see how he’d bump for the spear and it was all I hoped it would be — twice. Nope, make that three times. Still pointless overall, though.

This is hilarious.

Match of the night candidate is up next.

And Ricochet has a lot of faux leather on right now. Not quite as cool as Luke Gallows’ Powers of Pain (Google it, youngsters) impression though.

WWE isn’t giving up the highlight but the finish to that match was sick. That wasn’t their best match but still very good.

Bayley def. Ember Moon via pinfall to retain SmackDown Women’s Championship

It’s too bad the live crowd wasn’t really into that one because that was a solid match.

What? A little swerve before the match even starts? I’m shocked beyond belief right now.

Kevin Owens def. Shane McMahon via pinfall

That was pretty much exactly what it needed to be. I was a little concerned that the match would get way too much time but it was essentially a glorified squash as it played out. I was a bit surprised to not see Drew McIntyre get involved, though. But the result was the right one.

Charlotte Flair def. Trish Stratus via submission

Her last match and in her hometown? Trish Stratus never stood a chance. Honestly, that was so much better than I was expecting it to be. Trish had a couple of rough moments there but she looked good for someone who doesn’t do this much anymore and got a great sendoff from her hometown crowd. A fun match from two of the all-time greats.

It’s WWE Championship time.

Not a fan of that finish on a big show. This won’t be the last we see of these two going at it.

Oh my. This new “Fiend” entrance for Bray Wyatt  is absolutely amazing. New theme. New light. And he’s going to wrestle in the mask? YOWIE WOWIE!!!

It’s time for the main event.

And Brock got some pyro.

I have to say, I really didn’t see that coming. Aww … Becky and Seth bookending SummerSlam with fun matches. How cute for the couple.

Good night, everyone. Check back in for our full review tomorrow and we’ll see you back here with live results at Night of Champions in September.
