WWE has announced earlier today that Smackdown stars Roman Reigns and Erick Rowan will have a singles match at the upcoming Clash of Champions PPV, as this continues their TV feud alongside Daniel Bryan.

As the storyline on Smackdown continues between stars Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan, WWE has announced that Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan’s heavy, Erick Rowan, will have a singles match at the upcoming PPV event known as Clash of Champions, which was confirmed earlier today.

“Roman Reigns will be out for payback at WWE Clash of Champions when he goes one-on-one with the monstrous Erick Rowan,” WWE stated on their official website.

“Will Roman Reigns get the payback he’s been looking for, or will Erick Rowan continue to inflict pain on The Big Dog? Find out at WWE Clash of Champions, streaming live on the award-winning WWE Network Sunday, Sept. 15, at 7 ET/4 PT!”

With both Reigns and Bryan being prominent performers on Smackdown, it makes sense for Reigns to face off against Erick Rowan in storyline considering this match is based off the feud between him and Bryan. With the Hell in a Cell PPV event on the horizon, one must speculate if Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan is slated for that very event, possibly in a Hell in a Cell match.

What makes this possible match even more intriguing is the fact that both Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan haven’t been in the ring with each other for awhile in terms of singles matches, although it may stem from Daniel Bryan’s two-year retirement.  Although the current feud itself has been criticized by many fans, a potential match between the two wrestlers seems appealing nonetheless.

The last time these two had a match with each other was back in February of 2015 at the Fastlane PPV event, with Roman Reigns going over in a match that many felt deserved a positive reception.
