New friends Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss defend their Women’s Tag Team Championships against Fire and Desire this Sunday at Clash of Champions

Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross have a newly forged friendship that seems to be legitimate despite Bliss’ history with making and keeping friends. Cross has been adamant about how much Bliss has helped her since her come-up from NXT, and while several female Superstars have tried to warn her about getting stabbed in the back, Nikki has defended Alexa the whole way. This Sunday, the two friends will face off against real-life best friends Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose, otherwise known as Fire and Desire.

Rose and Deville have long felt that they are the best of the women’s tag team division, and they’ve had two shots at the title already. They were part of the initial Elimination Chamber match which would reveal the first ever Women’s Tag Team Champions, but lost out to the Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection of Sasha Banks and Bayley. Then they got a second shot at the titles during a fatal four-way tag-team elimination match which involved Bliss and Cross, the IIconics and the Kabuki Warriors. Bliss and Cross came out the victors.

Last week on SmackDown Live, Rose and Deville interrupted a backstage championship photoshoot to put themselves in line for a title match. In order to get that match, they challenged Bliss and Cross to a non-title match. Bliss seemed to have Deville in her sights, all lined up for Twisted Bliss, but a distraction on the outside of the ring between Cross and Rose caught her attention just long enough for Deville to get her knees up. Fire and Desire would win the match to earn another title opportunity.

While Rose and Deville are real-life best friends and seem to have more chemistry than most tag teams, Bliss and Cross seem to have a connection as well. It seems that the team with the best chemistry will be the team that comes out on top this Sunday at Clash of Champions.
