The curse is over. After more than 20 years of traveling around the world of Pokémon, Ash Ketchum wins his first Pokémon league Championship in the Alola Region.

He won using his Lycanroc against his rival trainer Gideon’s Lycanroc. He delivered the final blow on the tropical island earlier this morning and has officially been crowned champion for the first time in his career. Years of training have finally helped ash prevail after years of disappointing losses on the world’s biggest stage.

He and Pikachu finally hoist that coveted trophy that has eluded him for all these years.

Ash started as a boy from Pallet Town, and he and his Pikachu side kick rose through the ranks to become one of the strongest teams in the region. After amassing a team full of strong Pokémon he reached his first Pokémon League but ended with a disappointing top 16th place finish in at Indigo Plateau, he left to challenge the rest of the leagues around the world.

Over the next 6 regions he would finish in the top 8, top 4 and a second-place loss.

In the Sinnoh League, all signs pointed to his a championship for him and his dominant team, but there was controversy. His opponent ending up using two legendary Pokémon. After using 4 of his Pokémon to take down the legendary Darkrai, Tobias threw out a Latios and it was game over for Ash.

He then made it to the finals in the Unova region but lost to a powerful Lucario. Lots of tough breaks for Ash.

After spending 22 years traveling and facing the toughest trainers in the world, Ash was officially crowned champion of the Alolan League this morning and will take the place as their first champion ever. Pikachu and his story are one of determination and triumph. They never game up no matter how much the odds stacked against him.

The congratulations quickly poured in for Ash all over the internet, as he has one of the most devoted fan bases in sports.
