Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be returning to the show named after one of his catchphrases when Friday Night SmackDown debuts on Fox.

The Attitude Era of the WWE built the careers of many top Superstars but none quite as big as The Rock. His battles with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Undertaker and Triple H will always be remembered by his wrestling fans and family. But Johnson went on to garner a new fan base in films like the Fast and Furious franchise, Jumanji and Moana.

Despite becoming one of the biggest movie stars in the world, Johnson has never forgotten his roots with WWE. He often reflects back on his start in the business as the launching pad for the enormous career he has today.

Now as the WWE prepares for the big debut of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX, The Rock announced he’d be there. Seeing as though the program itself is named after one of Johnson’s catchphrases from his time in the company it’s only fitting that he puts the stamp of approval on the big move over to FOX. He’ll be joining a star-studded lineup set to walk the blue carpet for the big show with names that include Hall of Famers like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Kurt Angle, Goldberg, Trish Stratus, Lita and more.

With all these legends in attendance, it’s tempting to speculate on possible interactions with today’s Superstars. For instance, “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt has a penchant for attacking legendary talent when they least expect it. Given that Hell in a Cell is on the Sunday following the big Friday Night Smackdown event, and Wyatt has a big title opportunity against Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship, it’s possible that The Rock may fall to the Mandible Claw just like his former Rock n’ Sock partner, and the originator of the move, Mick Foley.

So far the line-up for the debut of Friday Night Smackdown on FOX is as follows:

  • Brock Lesnar vs. WWE Champion Kofi Kingston
  • RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair vs. SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley and Sasha Banks
  • Kevin Owens vs. Shane McMahon in a Ladder Match with their jobs on the line
  • Roman Reigns vs. Erick Rowan
  • The debut of the new SmackDown announce team with Michael Cole, Corey Graves and Renee Young

One thing is for sure — with The Rock returning to SmackDown anything is possible … if you smell what The Rock is cooking!
