Dave DuFour appears on an all new episode of Fastbreak Breakfast to predict which 24 players will be NBA All-Stars.

Preseason is a time for optimism and hype. It’s also a time at Fastbreak Breakfast where we like to predict which players will be named to the upcoming All-Star Game.

Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson are out of contention due to injury. The same is likely true for Victor Oladipo. Eight of the participants from last season’s game have changed teams, with Kawhi Leonard being the only All-Star to have switched conferences. How will this affect who gets in or is left out?

To help make the predictions, Dave DuFour (@davedufourNBA) joins this episode. Dave is a podcaster for The Athletic, and joined Fastbreak Breakfast last season to do the same exercise with a reasonable amount of success:

Among the things we considered:

  • Zion Williamson is certainly getting in right? If he wins the fan vote would the media and players keep him out? Would Adam Silver allow the coaches to not pick him as reserve?
  • If the Pacers live up to a roughly 47 win expectation, who would their All-Star candidate be? Myles Turner, Malcolm Brogdon or Domantas Sabonis? Someone else?
  • How would Mike Conley handle it if both Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell make their first All-Star appearances and he is left out once again?

Fastbreak Breakfast is a podcast for serious NBA fans that is incredibly not serious. All episodes are available on Apple Podcasts and Soundcloud or any other major podcast service.
