Xavier Woods injured at WWE Live Event in Sydney, Australia

Xavier Woods was apparently injured during a WWE Live event in Sydney, Australia over the weekend.

Xavier Woods is one-third of the Friday Night SmackDown tag team, The New Day. He and Big E were teaming against The Revival in Sydney, Australia at a WWE Live Event this weekend when Woods went down with an apparent injury.

He was running the ropes when it appeared that his knee or ankle gave out and he went down, grabbing his leg. The official immediately stopped the match and called for medics.

Woods was in obvious pain, but Big E went on to finish the match with The Revival on his own. He would lose without his partner, but that is the least of his worries right now.

It seems to indicate Woods may have suffered an  Achilles injury, although no further details are available at this time.

The timing of this injury couldn’t be worse for The New Day, although now that Kofi Kingston is no longer the WWE Champion, he could return to the side of Big E and The New Day can continue to compete. Hopefully this is the case as Friday Night SmackDown is low on tag teams, with only six in the division. Any injury is frustrating, but the timing of this one, as The New Day was gaining momentum, is extra frustrating for Woods.

The entire tag team division is set to participate in the Largest Tag Team Turmoil Match at Crown Jewel on October 31, but it is unknown at this time if The New Day will participate.

Given that there are only six tag teams on Friday Night SmackDown, this leaves the door wide open for teams like Heavy Machinery and Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler to jump to the top of the division for an opportunity at the tag team titles. The New Day isn’t gone, just down a man. But if it is an Achilles injury, they could be down a man for quite some time.
