Welcome to FanSided Fantasy’s PGA power rankings for this week’s inaugural Zozo Championship, taking place at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Chiba Prefecture, Japan.

This PGA power rankings article will cover the top 15 golfers for this week’s event, and each golfer will come along with a short blurb with some justification to their respective rankings. Before we do that let’s touch briefly on the history of this event.

PGA power rankings: Zozo Championship – History

After a short hiatus, the PGA power rankings are back for The Zozo Championship, the very first PGA Tour sponsored event that will take place in Japan. This tournament was created to replace the CIMB Classic which was played in Malaysia from 2010 up until last year. We have the same format that we had last week at the CJ Cup, in the sense that we have a field of 78 with no cut, and the majority of the field will once again be comprised of the top-60 from last seasons FedEx Cup final standings who have opted to make the trip.

There a certainly a few more of the top names in golf competing this week that did not play last week at the CJ Cup, including Xander Schauffele, Tony Finau and Paul Casey. We also have a solid core from those who did play last week, highlighted by now back-to-back CJ Cup champ Justin Thomas, Gary Woodland, and Jordan Spieth. Last but not least, we have the main core made up of the four who got an early look at the course at the Japan Skins Challenge, in Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Hideki Matuyama, and the man who was able to walk away victorious, Jason Day.

With no history here, I have taken an extra look at the course this week as there is a fantastic basic hole-by-hole layout right on the PGA Tour official website. Also, don’t forget to check out our full course breakdown from @3Putts4Par for all of the nuts and bolts of Narashino Country Club. Without further ado, let’s check out this week’s top 15.
