In the marquee game of the weekend in the Premier League, Liverpool host Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday. The Reds are first in the Premier League, holding a six-point lead over Manchester City. Tottenham have struggled this season and are seventh, 13 points behind Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp’s team dropped points for the first time this season when they drew with Manchester United last weekend. On Wednesday, Liverpool went to Belgium and easily beat Genk 4-1. The Reds will look to bounce back in the Premier League on Sunday against Tottenham. Liverpool do not want to drop any points and hand a potential lifeline to Manchester City in the title race. As always, Liverpool will rely on their front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. The trio has combined for 12 goals and eight assists.
Tottenham finished in the top four each of the last four seasons. However, this season Tottenham have struggled, dropping points to teams that are significantly less talented. Spurs are 3-3-3 in their nine games this season, dropping points to significantly less talented teams. Mauricio Pochettino’s team have played down to the level of their competitions this season. Last weekend, Spurs were held to a draw by Watford. However, midweek in the Champions League, Tottenham finally played up to their talent level, easily beating Red Star Belgrade 5-0. The question on Sunday will be which Spurs team shows up.
