NFL DFS Week 9: Fantasy football cash game breakdown

This week is interesting from a full slate perspective because I love the 49ers defense on this early game Thursday then you have Houston Jacksonville Sunday early morning in London plus a nice matchup Monday between the Giants and Cowboys. That doesn’t even account for the Patriots Ravens game Sunday night which I will probably be fading from a fantasy perspective. I wouldn’t blame you if you played Coleman or Kittle along with the 49ers d tonight and I like both running backs in the Monday night game.

Without further ado, let’s jump in!

Cash quarterbacks

Jameis Winston: FanDuel $7500, DraftKings $6100

I can’t believe I’m writing about Jameis Winston as a cash game quarterback but here we are. Week 9. The guy has supported two top-10 wide receivers which is pretty incredible given how we generally view him. Is he going to create some turnovers? Yeah probably. But will he also get the 300-yard bonus on DraftKings? I think you have a very strong chance of that. Take a look at his box scores that he’s put up (a practice I’m typically against because bad DFS players use this too much). He has done quite well really and it’s surprising. He’s also had some really tough matchups to be honest and I think Seattle isn’t that great against the pass, particularly on the back end. Jameis can do some damage but I’m not stacking.

Matt Stafford: FanDuel $7900, DraftKings $6800

Part of the pricing algorithm on FanDuel and presumably on DraftKings is to take ownership from their previous game into account. Even if a guy doesn’t “go off”, his price may increase based on whether he was chalk or not. Don’t get me wrong, Stafford had a great game but his price has gone up a good bit. I just thought you may want to know that regarding the pricing algorithm. Watson was chalk last week with at least one of his receivers for good reason — the Raiders are terrible against the pass. I think stacking up Stafford with smooth jazz Kenny G again is probably a strong play but he’s pretty expensive on FanDuel.

Josh Allen: FanDuel $7700, DraftKings $6500

There is some concern here to be honest but I’m not sure who I really love at quarterback this week beyond Winston. I would love to play Lamar against the best defense in the league but they’re on Sunday night. Washington is obviously terrible and I think they’ll be starting my guy Haskins who is not ready and could not have gone to a worse destination. That said, Washington does have a good defense. Allen is (still) due for a good ceiling type game where he runs for 80-100 yards and goes crazy. I’m holding out some hope it could be this week but I don’t know if he’ll be needed.
