The AP Top 25 college football rankings will see Florida drop after losing to Georgia and SMU is no longer undefeated after losing to Memphis.

When you looked at the slate for Week 10 and saw four of the top five teams off, you probably expected little to no excitement around college football, but that wasn’t the case.

Baylor and West Virginia opened the weekend with a Halloween night Big 12 showdown. The Bears narrowly escaped a home upset in a whacky game, but the Mountaineers are looking better by the week. While the Bears remained unbeaten on the season, the rest of the Big 12 contenders were on a bye. Baylor stayed undefeated but that wasn’t the case for Appalachian State who fell to Georgia Southern for the second straight year. Fast forward to Saturday, and Group of 5 teams suffering their first loss became a trend with Memphis handing SMU their first loss of the year in a high-scoring affair.

The SEC had the biggest game of the week with Georgia and Florida facing in the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party”. The Bulldogs were the better team and pulled off a mammoth win to take control of the SEC East while ending Florida’s playoff hopes.

Utah was also looking to avoid a playoff elimination at Washington but the Utes came from behind to take a lead over the Huskies in the second half they wouldn’t relinquish. The Pac-12 South looks to be Utah’s to lose. Meanwhile, the biggest game for the Pac-12 North standings was Oregon embarrassing USC to remain in control of the division. Both teams have a pulse for the playoff but still, need a few breaks to go their way.

As for Notre Dame, the program just seems like it’s in shutdown mode after being eliminated from the playoff a week ago with a blowout loss to Michigan. The Fighting Irish escaped a monumental letdown against Virginia Tech and it took a last-minute drive with Ian Book leading the way, pulling off a 21-20 comeback win.

On what was an otherwise quiet week of college football before next week’s madness with LSU vs. Alabama and Penn State vs. Minnesota, here’s how we project the AP Top 25 for Week 11.
