Tottenham can clinch a spot in the Champions League knockout stage with a victory over Olympiacos at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday. Spurs are second in the group with seven points, while Olympiacos are last with only one point.
Jose Mourinho won his managerial debut with Tottenham over the weekend. Spurs defeated West Ham 3-2 to move into the middle of the table after a horrible start to the season that cost Mauricio Pochettino his job. In the Champions League, Tottenham are coming off of back-to-back wins against Red Star Belgrade that saw Spurs outscore their Serbian opposition 9-0.
Harry Kane scored in Mourinho’s debut and leads all Spurs players with 11 goals between the Premier League and the Champions League. The English striker will likely play a large role in Tuesday’s game if Spurs are going to clinch their spot in the knockout stage.
Olympiacos are unbeaten in the Greek Super League but have been struggling to get results in the Champions League. The Greek side’s lone point of the tournament came in the open game of the tournament when Olympiacos were able to hold Spurs to a 2-2 draw. Manager Pedro Martins’ team was down 2-0 in the first half but were able to come back to steal a point. Mathieu Valbuena scored and added an assist in the first game against Spurs. The French midfielder will be a key player for Olympiacos if they are again going to steal a point from Tottenham. Valbuena has five goals and nine assists in all competitions this season.
