We’re only a year away from Super Bowl 55 capping off the 2020 season. What stories will dominate the news cycle at this time next year? Which teams will represent the NFC and AFC and what new surprises will they bring?
While all of that is still up in the air, we do know a couple of things about Super Bowl 55.
Super Bowl 55 is scheduled to be played on Feb. 7, 2021. Of course, that could change if there are any changes to the NFL schedule.
Next season’s Super Bowl will be hosted in Tampa, FL at Raymond James Stadium. It will be the fourth time that the Super Bowl is hosted in the same state two years in a row, with Super Bowl 54 being hosted in Miami, FL.
This will be the fifth Super Bowl hosted in Tampa. The last Super Bowl in Tampa was on Feb. 1, 2009. Super Bowl 43 saw the Pittsburgh Steelers top the Arizona Cardinals 27-23 in one of the all-time great Super Bowl games.
It was a game that featured a James Harrison 100-yard pick-six to end the first half, a 64-yard Larry Fitzgerald touchdown to put the Cardinals up 23-20 with 2:37 left in the game, and finishing out with the iconic six-yard toe-tap touchdown catch in the corner of the endzone by Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes to put the Steelers ahead for good with 35 seconds left.
Let’s hope Super Bowl 55 will be as entertaining a game as the last Super Bowl hosted in Tampa.
