Much to the delight of DAZN and boxing fans, Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin have agreed to terms for a third fight in their rivalry. The fight is expected to be on September 12th at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, TX.

Per The Athletic, sources have reported that Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin have verbally agreed to terms for a third fight. While the official record between the two is one draw and one win for Canelo, most fans believe Golovkin won the first fight. The third fight will give each man a chance to put an end to the rivalry, and definitively say who is the better fighter.

The proposed rubber match would take place at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, TX, and would occur on September 12th.

Canelo was nearing an official announcement for a fight with Billie Joe Saunders at super-middleweight in May, and GGG had plans to make a mandatory defense against Szeremeta in June. However, with the corona virus throwing a wrench in everyone’s plans, it is unclear if either of those fights will happen.

According to the report, Canelo would still like to fight Saunders, the WBO super-middleweight champion, in June, and then go ahead with the third GGG fight in September. Of course, the pandemic known as the coronavirus may have a say in that matter, and if any complications arise with fighting Saunders in June, Canelo would be willing to put the fight with Saunders on hold and go straight to the rubber match with GGG in September.

DAZN is surely pleased, as they have been transparent with their hopes of making a third fight as it is still one of the biggest fights to make in the sport.

Fans will also be pleased to hear the news, as their second fight was incredible, and the third figures to be just as entertaining.
