The Washington Redskins have a ton of roster holes to fill, but they don’t have the capital to address every need through the draft.

When the Washington Redskins are on the clock with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, it’s clear they are going to take the best player available on the big board. They will address their EDGE need early but have so many other holes to fill on the roster.

That’s what makes the fact that they don’t have a ton of early draft capital sting, so finding players that can be productive right away will be a challenge.

After their early first round pick, the Redskins do not have a selection to make until the third round. They’ll have to go 64 picks in between their own. Of course, the team could make a trade down from No. 2 if the Dolphins or Chargers wish to move up the board, but for now, that doesn’t seem like the most likely scenario.

Washington Redskins First Round Pick

Ohio State. Scouting Report. EDGE. Chase Young. 2. player. 812. Pick Analysis

Chase Young is the best player in the 2020 NFL Draft class without question. The only reason he won’t be the top pick is because of the Bengals dire need for a generational QB. The Redskins will luck out with that, as they get the talented Ohio State product.

Young has been compared to former NFL great Julius Peppers, and that kind of talent can help to bolster a Washington defense that ranked 7th in sacks a season ago. Matthew Ioannidis, Montez Sweat, Jonathan Allen, and Ryan Kerrigan all had over 5 sacks apiece, and all will return for 2020. That means that the Redskins could have one of the most feared pass rushing groups in the league with Young in the mix.

Second Round Pick

The Redskins do not currently have a second round selection.
