Lamar Jackson and the Ravens took the NFL by storm last year. What will the team do for an encore during the 2020 regular season?

The Ravens unveiled a diverse rushing attack that steamrolled the opposition in 2019. It’s a safe bet that opposing defenses will learn to defend it better in 2020. That puts pressure on John Harbaugh and his coaching staff to continue to evolve their attack to stay ahead of the competition.

That’s going to be a difficult ask. Baltimore’s run game put pressure on opposing defenses in a variety of ways last season. It will be almost impossible for the attack to be more “multiple” this season. Instead, look for the Ravens to give Lamar Jackson more responsibility in the passing game.

If he takes a step forward as a more conventional passer, this offense could become downright impossible to stop. If he falters, the group could come back to Earth enough to endanger their status as a Super Bowl contender.

Without delay, here are five unexpected outcomes you should watch out for with the Ravens in 2020.

5. The Ravens will not win the AFC North

Baltimore steamrolled the competition en route to a 14-2 regular season record last season. They won’t catch everyone off guard this year. The Ravens will do more than just come back to the pack, they will actually struggle enough to cost them the division crown.

The team will still qualify for the postseason though. They will enter the playoffs as one of the most dangerous wild card teams in recent memory. Not having home field advantage is going to hurt their chances of winning a Super Bowl though. Look for the Ravens to be good, but not great next season.
