These five college football teams are going to be so much better than you think heading into the 2020 season. Here’s why they’ll exceed expectations.

The college football season can’t come soon enough. We’re starved for sports but after a great season, no spring football and a sports hiatus around the country, even more fans are starved for college football. LSU had a magical run to the championship despite starting the season at No. 6. It was thought they’d have a good season, but nobody thought Joe Burrow would go on the run he did.

That’s what’s so great about college football. Right now, every single fanbase has at least a little bit of hope. It’s stories like the one of the Minnesota Golden Gophers that has people believing anything. They started the season ranked outside the Top 25, but finished the season in the Top 10.

It’s those stories we’re looking for right here as I identify five teams who will exceed expectations and be much better than anyone thinks right now. Taking a look at the FanSided way-too-early rankings of all 130 teams and look into which teams will over-perform. There are a lot of recognizable names on this list, as you’ll see a lot of former favorites either making the leap or finally living up to expectations. Either way, five teams fit the criteria for teams that will be much better than anyone outside their die-hard fan community is expecting.

These are the teams that will prove the experts wrong.

It happens every season, and if you can guess right it makes you look like you can see the future. However, trying to find a little consistency and a lot of talent can lead you to the teams that are going to surprise in 2020.
