Chris Paul has a handwritten memorial to Breonna Taylor on his shoes.

Oklahoma City Thunder’s Chris Paul has been incredibly vocal about the Black Lives Matter movement and in particular, Breonna Taylor’s case. He’s arranged a call with her family and even centered his post-game interviews to focus on her and the legal steps he’d like to see happen to begin to right a terrible wrong to the Taylor family.

During today’s game with Utah Jazz, he made yet another statement in the step towards justice for Taylor by honoring her life and the cause on his shoes.

Written on the white rubber trim of the shoes he wrote, “Can’t give up now” and her name.

Who is Breonna Taylor?

Taylor was killed on March 13 when Louisville, KY police officers opened fired on her in the middle of the night. They were reportedly serving a no-knock warrant and were wearing plain clothes. Her boyfriend fired at the officers who he thought were breaking into the home. She was shot eight times.

Her death and the death of George Floyd became symbols to the Black Lives Matter movement which gained in attention in the last few months. NBA stars like Lebron James and others have offered personal tributes to Taylor and Floyd.
