Trevor Lawrence officially has his first touchdown of the 2020 college football season.

It’ll be a season unlike any other, as two of the Power 5 conferences are not playing this fall. While that may be the case, Lawrence’s Clemson Tigers are the favorite to win the College Football Playoff, as he projects to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, as well as the first Heisman Trophy winner in school history.

He didn’t do it through the air, rather the ground, where he had nine rushing touchdowns last year as a sophomore, and made it look easy in the process of reaching the end zone.

After going three-and-out on their first drive, Clemson responded with a nine-play drive capped off by a simple two-yard run by Lawrence into the end zone for six. Though we were expecting a more explosive touchdown, once running back Travis Etienne was tackled just of the goal line, we all knew Lawrence would take it in himself, just like this.

For Clemson to reach the College Football Playoff for the sixth straight season, the Tigers will need to dominate its ACC schedule. While that hasn’t been very hard for them of late, teams like the North Carolina Tar Heels are on the rise, as well as the national independent Notre Dame Fighting Irish playing in the ACC for this one season. Clemson can win the ACC, but it’s not going to be easy.

In most weeks, Lawrence may not have to play deep into the second half. Clemson may already be up big before the start of the third quarter. However, it is his Heisman Trophy to lose, especially with Justin Fields of the Ohio State Buckeyes not playing this fall. They are expected to go in the top of the 2021 NFL Draft and be some bad team’s new franchise quarterback.

Let’s enjoy Lawrence while we can in college, but this is his last season before turning pro.
