Aston Villa face Liverpool at Villa Park on Sunday, Oct. 4. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

Aston Villa have gotten off to a wonderful start of the season, their first two games of the season. On Sunday, the Villains welcome Liverpool to Villa Park. The Reds are one of three teams to start the season with three straight victories.

Villa started the season with victories over Sheffield United and Fulham. Manager Dean Smith’s club has kept clean sheets in their first two games of the season. However, against one of the top offensive clubs in the world, keeping a clean sheet in a third consecutive game will be a monumental task. Villa spent big this summer as they attempt to avoid relegation for a second straight season. The most intriguing and perhaps surprising move was signing Ross Barkley on loan from Chelsea after Barkley was used by a sub in Chelsea’s first two games. The loan deal should be mutually beneficial for Barkley and Aston Villa. Barkley will get first-team playing time for Villa in midfield which should give him a chance to earn a spot on England’s national team for next summer’s European Championship.

Liverpool’s perfect start to the season hit a sour note this week as star winger Sadio Mane and midfielder Thiago both tested positive for COVID-19. Both players self-isolating away from the club and will not be available for the next couple of weeks. While most clubs would struggle to replace two of the best players at their position in the world, Liverpool have an over-qualified bench that should be able to easily replace both players. The Reds are filled with midfield talent that manager Jurgen Klopp can pick and choose from. Diogo Jota will likely replace Mane in the starting XI after he joined the club from Wolves.
