This week, Monday night football presents a clash of NFC teams. Let’s take a look at this single game slate from a fantasy football perspective!

Before I discuss my FanDuel player picks for Monday night football, let’s take a look at the key DFS injuries for both teams and briefly review the rules for the FanDuel single game contest.

Notable DFS Injuries

Cardinals: LB Kylie Fitts OUT; OT D.J. Humphries, LB Devon Kennard, LB Dennis Gardeck QUESTIONABLE
Cowboys: QB Dak Prescott OUT.

Let’s shift our focus to the rules for the FanDuel single game contest. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The FanDuel MVP accumulates 1.5 times the standard FanDuel points value.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a FanDuel single game contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the FanDuel single game contest, I recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.

Here are my FanDuel Player Selections for Monday Night Football!

MVP-Ezekiel Elliott $15,500

Unless you have been living under a rock, I am sure that you are aware that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is out for the season due to an ankle injury. Now the Cowboys turn to the Red Rifle. Andy Dalton will get his first start as a Dallas Cowboy on Monday night.

What will the Cowboys focus be on offense without Prescott on the field? You guessed it, Ezekiel Elliott. I think Elliott can handle the load of this team’s offense. As they say, the proof is in the pudding. Through five games played this season, Elliott has 364 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. Elliott also 24 receptions. I think it’s safe to say that you can expect a heavy dose of Zeke this week.

Flex Plays

Kyler Murray $16,500

Arizona starting quarterback Kyler Murray has been putting up some outstanding numbers this season. The great thing about Murray is that he can get your FanDuel lineups DFS points in multiple ways. In last week’s Cardinals win over the Jets, Murray passed for 380 yards. However, Kyler can also utilize his legs out of the backfield. In the Cardinals loss to the Carolina Panthers two weeks ago, Murray amassed 78 yards rushing.

This week, Murray draws a Dallas Cowboys defense that has struggled all season. Frankly, I would be shocked if Murray did not perform at a high level on Monday night.

Andy Dalton $12,500

Through five games played this season, the Dallas Cowboys are ranked first in total offensive passing yards (1,978). However, this week, the Cowboys will have Andy Dalton as the starting quarterback. Will Dalton be as effective as Dak Prescott passing the football? No, he won’t. Having stated that, Dalton is a very capable quarterback that was the starter for the Bengals for several years.

Additionally, earlier this week, Cardinals defensive back Patrick Peterson stated that the team planned to stack the box and force Dalton to beat them through the air. I think Dalton does a decent job in his first start as a Dallas Cowboy. I would just say to be realistic with regard to your expectations.

Greg Zuerlein $8,500

In my opinion, the Cowboys offense will not run quite as smoothly as it has in the previous five games played this season. This should be expected when a team loses one of the most talented starting quarterbacks in the NFL. Having stated that, I think the offense will have some issues scoring touchdowns in the red zone on Monday night. For me, the main beneficiary of the team’s inability to score touchdowns in the red zone will be kicker Greg Zuerlein.

It should be noted that Zuerlein had three field goals and four extra points in the Cowboys win over the New York Giants last week.

Larry Fitzgerald $7,000

With my last flex play, I am rolling with veteran wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald was targeted by Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray seven times in last week’s win over the New York Jets. Additionally, Fitzgerald will be facing a defense that has been vulnerable to the pass all season. The Cowboys defense is ranked 25th in the NFL in passing touchdowns allowed (12).
