After so much time away from football, it looks like Dez Bryant is set to return to the gridiron by signing to the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad.

NFL fans haven’t seen Dez Bryant hit the field for a game since 2017, but could that finally end up changing later this season? His chances just skyrocketed, as NFL insider Ian Rapoport is reporting the former Dallas Cowboys standout is getting ready to sign a deal to join the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad.

While Bryant will have to wait to get his shot to join the active roster, this latest news surely inspires home in him potentially making plays on Sundays.

Dez Bryant joining the Baltimore Ravens practice squad makes plenty of sense

Bryant, a former Pro Bowler, indeed hasn’t seen any NFL action since the 2017 campaign. After he was released by Dallas that offseason, he failed to land on a new team. The Saints ended up signing him in November of 2018, but his season was over before it started thanks to a torn Achilles. It was terrible luck for Bryant, who was trying to move forward with his career.

When healthy, he was an electric wideout. In his eight campaigns playing for Jerry Jones and the Cowboys, he hauled in 531 receptions for 7,459 yards and 73 touchdowns. He had three seasons where he posted at least 1,200 yards. However, he never topped more than 838 yards during his last three campaigns with Dallas.

For Baltimore, this is a low-risk move. Adding Bryant to the practice squad will give them a chance to see what he has left in the tank. And if he proves he’s up to the challenge, they can add him to the active roster and see what he can do with Lamar Jackson throwing him the ball. It could prove to be yet another wise move from the front office.

Next. Ravens are clearly all in after trading for Yannick Ngakoue. dark
