In the second game of the Champions League group stage, Club Brugge host Lazio. The two clubs both started the competition with a win. Brugge defeated Zenit St. Petersburg. While Lazio defeated Borussia Dortmund.
The Blue and Blacks scored a late goal in injury time to steal all three points from Zenit in their opening game. Those three points could be huge as Brugge attempt to qualify for a spot in either the Champions Leauge or Europa League knockout stage. Domestically, Brugge are second in the Belgian table but have dropped points in recent games. As manager Philippe Clement focuses on the Champions League, he will have to find a way to stop Lazio striker Ciro Immobile, who has scored 42 goals since the start of last season. Offensively, Krepin Diatta will be the player to watch for Brugge. Diatta has scored five goals so far this season.
Lazio were brilliant in their opening game against Dortmund, with Immobile scoring against his former club. However, the Eagles have been very underwhelming in Serie A. Simone Inzaghi’s team have only seven points through their first five games. The biggest issue facing Inzaghi to gameplan for on Wednesday is determining who will be available. At least 13 players are sidelined with injuries or are in quarantine. Immobile and Luis Alberto are Lazio’s two best-attacking players. With both players currently in quarantine and their availability unknown, Lazio could struggle to create chances if either player cannot play.
