WWE announced on Friday that they had come to terms on the release of one of their female superstars, Zelina Vega.

On Friday evening, a rather surprising announcement came from WWE. They broke the news that they have officially released Zelina Vega. It comes as a shock considering she had been in a featured role on screen this year.

Shortly before her release was made public, she took to her Twitter to support unionizing. Though that timing might have sparked interest in some, FanSided has learned Vega’s release actually happened well before her tweet was made.

WWE came under fire this year when they demanded their superstars shut down their third-party activities, such as Twitch and YouTube. Some names, such as Paige, have been defiant in not agreeing to do so.

There have been several opinions and suggestions already as to what led to her release, but nothing worthy of note has been official as of yet. We’ll have to wait and see if she sheds any light on if her Tweet had anything to do with, or what happened. Also, could we see more releases on the way?

Some recognizable names have already headed to Twitter to post their thoughts on her release, including the aforementioned Paige as well as a few others:

Now that this has come to light, Vega has gone to Instagram, where she says “See you on Twitch.”

A number of things come to mind, seeing all of this transpire. What will she have to say, when she returns to her Twitch stream? Also, for those that are unaware, she is married to the man known to the WWE Universe as Aleister Black. He’s undergone a bit of an on-screen transformation this year, so will we see anything negative thrown his direction?

One couple, Lana and Rusev, has already been split up when Rusev was released earlier this year. Of course, now he’s moved on to rival All Elite Wrestling, so could we see Vega take a similar route? It’ll be interesting to see what happens now, as all eyes will be on her and WWE to see what the next move is from here.

She was last seen on the November 6 edition of SmackDown, where she lost a triple threat match against Ruby Riott and Natalya in which Riott would join the Team SmackDown women’s match at Survivor Series. Previously, she had dismissed herself from having associations with Andrade and Angel Garza, after the two had been having issues for awhile on Raw. Her last win came in September, against Mickie James.
