This week, the PGA Tour presents the FanDuel/DFS community with the RSM Classic. Let’s take a look at this event from a fantasy golf perspective!

Before I dive into my player picks, let’s discuss this tournament’s unique format, briefly touch on the the two golf courses the field will contend with this week and discuss my key statistics for this event.

In 2015, the RSM Classic began using a two golf course format at the Sea Island Golf Club. The 156 player man field will play 18 holes on the Plantation course and the Seaside course in the opening two rounds of play. After the first two rounds are complete, the field will be cut to the top 65 and ties. The remaining golfers will play the final 36 holes of the tournament on the Seaside course.

The Plantation course is a par 72 that measures 7,058 yards. This track is by far the easiest of the two tracks. The Seaside course on the other hand is a much more difficult golf course. As the name suggests, the Seaside course is a coastal track that is much more exposed to the elements. I should also note that Seaside course is a par 70 that measures 7,005 yards.

Due to the fact that three of the four rounds of the RSM Classic will be played at the Seaside course, I think identifying golfers that have a history of performing well on coastal tracks is highly important if you hope to compose a lineup that will win a FanDuel contest this week.

The key statistics I will be focusing on this week are GIR (greens in regulation), strokes gained putting, and strokes gained ball striking.

Let’s shift our focus to my FanDuel player selections for the RSM Classic!

Russell Henley $11,400

The 31 year old American arrives at this week’s event on the heels of seven consecutive top 29 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a third place finish at the CJ Cup @ Shadow Creek last month.

In relation to this week’s current listed RSM Classic field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Henley ranks first in bogey avoidance, first in strokes gained ball striking, first in strokes gained approach, and sixth in driving accuracy.

Corey Conners $10,300

Since the re-start of the PGA Tour season in June, Conners has eight top 30 finishes, including an eighth place result at the ZOZO Championship @ Sherwood last month.

In relation to this week’s current listed RSM Classic field, in the last 24 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Conners ranks 11th in proximity to the hole, seventh in strokes gained off the tee, and eighth in strokes gained ball striking.

C.T. Pan $9,900

The 29 year old has two top 12 finishes in his last four event on the PGA Tour, including an impressive seventh place finish at the Masters last week.

Austin Cook $9,600

Cook has two consecutive top 24 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a second place result at the Shriners Hospitals For Children Open.

It should also be noted that Cook has performed well at the RSM Classic previously. More specifically, Cook has two previous top 11 finishes at the RSM Classic, including a win in 2016.

David Hearn $7,300

The 41 year old Canadian has four consecutive top 30 finishes at the RSM Classic, including a 15th place finish in the 2018 RSM Classic. He also finished eighth at the Bermuda Championship in October.

John Huh $7,400

The 30 year old American has three previous top 37 finishes at this week’s event, including a ninth place result at the 2015 RSM Classic. Huh also finished 19th at the Shriners Hospitals For Children Open last month.

I think Huh presents outstanding fantasy value at a FanDuel price of only $7,400.
