Auburn football: New $92 million facility will include a flight simulator (seriously)
The Auburn Tigers’ new football facility is reportedly estimated to cost $92 million.
While Auburn fans come to terms with their new head coach hire in former Boise State coach Bryan Harsin, they can also get excited about a brand new stand-alone football facility coming to the campus.
Expected to be finished in July 2022, Auburn’s new facility has a reported $91.5 million price tag attached to it. The Tigers have a board of trustees meeting next month in which the facility and its hefty price tag will be up for final approval.
Details on the new facility include coverage over 12.5 acres and 233,400 square feet. The new facility will be the home of all of Auburn’s football operations building, which will include a new indoor practice facility and two natural turf practice fields.
Players and staff can also expect a new locker room and weight room, a players lounge where the student-athletes can relax between classes and even a barbershop.
Meeting rooms, laundry facilities, sports medicine rooms, and other typical athletic needs will be encompassed in the project. Two recording studios are will be in the facility as well, but that’s not even the craziest thing we’re looking forward to.
Apparently, a flight simulator will be included as well. Yes, you read that correctly, a flight simulator. What the Auburn football players need a flight simulator for has not yet been discovered, but it’s certainly nice to have.
The project is said to be funded and financed by university bonds and Auburn’s athletic department.
