First Week Finals separates the NBA’s contenders from the pretenders after the first week of every month of the season.

Now that a full month of NBA action is in the books, teams are starting to find out how this season’s version of themselves will be able to compete within their respective conferences. While chemistry and rotations issues are still being ironed out for many teams, including some of the NBA’s best, most franchises have been able to see their established stars work with their new acquisitions long enough to have some idea in which direction they will take in pursuit of their goals.

In the first installment, we looked at those teams with the best chances to ascend the 2020-21 Eastern Conference throne. Now it’s the West side’s turn under the spotlight and we see the familiar suspects with a new contender hoping to see the sun rise on a stretch of success that has eluded them for years. These are not power rankings, so records are not the be-all factor. These are merely projections as to which teams have the best chances to reach the Finals and they will be subject to change as their circumstances do. We examine some of the strengths that make them so promising; as well as some issues that could prove fatal to these teams’ title aspirations.

Which NBA teams have the best chance of winning the Western Conference?

The NBA’s Western Conference has been the dominant one over the last 20 years, winning 13 NBA championships in that time and it looks primed for another one. Let’s go right into the top four with a shot at the title and to continue the mantle that in the NBA, the West is the best.
