Eagles: 3 quarterbacks of the future better than Jalen Hurts

If the Eagles are not entirely sold on Jalen Hurts, they have options to pursue at quarterback this offseason and beyond.
With the Philadelphia Eagles trading Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts, that leaves second-year pro Jalen Hurts as the presumptive Week 1 starting quarterback in the City of Brotherly Love.
While Hurts showed flashes in a handful of starts at the end of the regular season, Philadelphia has a new coaching staff with former Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni coming over. Though he could be the one to develop Hurts in the next few years of his rookie contract, he may also prefer the Eagles to look elsewhere for possibly a better option under center before this fall.

This sounds like blasphemy, probably because it is, but hear me out. The Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys mix about as well as oil and water do. However, the Cowboys are getting awfully cute with their franchise quarterback Dak Prescott. While they could tag him twice more in free agency, Prescott has earned better than getting the Kirk Cousins treatment from “America’s Team.”
Prescott is a free agent again this winter, after Dallas slapped him with the franchise tag for the first time. While they are expected to do it again, assuming they cannot agree to a long-term extension, the Eagles front office could swoop in and give the star quarterback an offer he cannot refuse and one the Cowboys are going to pass on. So why would the Eagles even consider this?
Well, the idea behind drafting Hurts is that he can be a solid backup and maybe one day become an established starting quarterback like. . .Prescott. Though Hurts does have upside, he is more likely to become the next version of Jacoby Brissett than he is to become the next Dak. Keep in mind that Hurts was never a vertical passer at Alabama. Only at Oklahoma did he adopt this trait.
If Dallas were to part ways with Prescott, it would likely indicate they are in the market to draft someone like Trey Lance out of North Dakota State or Zach Wilson out of BYU in the top 10. A reboot of sorts takes the pressure off head coach Mike McCarthy coming off a lousy first year. By adding Prescott, the Eagles would get an already refined version of what Hurts could one day be.
