Mitchell Schwartz gives encouraging update about offseason

The Kansas City Chiefs were without former All-Pro offensive lineman Mitchell Schwartz during their Super Bowl LV loss, but he just gave an encouraging update.

The glaring deficiency for the Kansas City Chiefs in their humbling Super Bowl LV loss to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was not protecting Patrick Mahomes.

They had to deal with a ton of injuries last season leading up to the big game, including in the AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills, when left tackle Eric Fisher tore his Achilles tendon. Before that, starting right tackle Mitchell Schwartz had missed the majority of the season with a back injury he suffered earlier in Week 6, also against Buffalo.

Schwartz, a former All-Pro player, had sat out the season and hoped to rehab himself back into the lineup by the Super Bowl. That obviously did not happen. Now, Schwartz has given Chiefs fans an update on the status of his recovery.

Schwartz posted to his Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon that he was undergoing a procedure to correct the back injury.

Schwartz had started 134 consecutive regular-season games before suffering the injury in Week 6, dating back to his five-year stint with the Cleveland Browns. He was an All-Pro in 2018 and is currently signed through the 2021 season.

Chiefs Kingdom has to be excited to have him back next year as their team has already been deemed the favorite to take the cake in 2021.
