Tiger Woods was involved in a single-car accident in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning. The accident was described as a roll-over traffic collision on the border of the Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes.

Paramedics had to use the ‘jaws of life’ to extricate Tiger Woods from the vehicle

Woods’ vehicle sustained major damage and he had to be removed from the vehicle with the “jaws of life,” according to a statement from the LA County Sheriffs.

Tiger Woods sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the accident

As more information came out, we learned that Tiger suffered multiple leg injuries including two leg fractures and a shattered ankle. He was conscious and there were no signs of impairment.

While there were no signs of impairment, Woods may have been speeding at the time of the accident. According to Daniel Canova and Ryan Gaydos of Fox News, the area is highly prone to accidents.

“[The vehicle] crossed the center divider, to the point that it rested several hundred feet away so obviously that indicates they were going at a relatively — a greater speed than normal. However, because it is downhill, it slopes and it also curves,” he said. “That area has a high frequency of accidents. It’s not uncommon,” stated police.

A statement has been released by Tiger Woods’s camp regarding the accident

He was rushed into surgery after the accident and we now know that the surgery was successful and that Woods has been awake and responsive. A statement was released on Woods’ Twitter page to update fans and supporters on his status.

We’ve also learned that Woods was traveling on his way to play golf with other sports figures Drew Brees and Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert.
