The Champions League round of 16 wraps up on Wednesday with Chelsea hosting Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge. The Blues won the first leg 1-0, with Olivier Giroud scoring a beautiful bicycle kick goal.

Since Thomas Tuchel took over as Chelsea’s manager, the Blues are undefeated. After sitting as low as 10th in the middle of January, Chelsea are fourth in the Premier League. Tuchel is moving the Blues in the right direction and can lead the club to the Champions League quarterfinal for the first time since 2014. Entering the second leg with the lead, Chelsea can afford to be conservative as a draw is enough to advance. Given Tuchel’s style of managing that seems unlikely. The Blues have a great variety of attacking options that can put pressure on Atletico. Seven different Chelsea players have scored at least five goals.

Atletico Madrid are first in La Liga, six points ahead of Real Madrid. However, Diego Simeone’s team has struggled over the past month, picking up five points in their last four games. Atletico are trying to reach the quarterfinal for the second straight season. The club will need to win the second leg if they are going to advance. That is a difficult task given how well Chelsea is playing. Atletico are going to be very defensively responsible but cannot be too overly defensive. Simeone will have to have his team open up and attack. Luis Suarez, Joao Felix, and Marcos Llorente will be the keys to Atleti’s attack. The trio has combined for 38 goals and 16 assists in all competitions.
